A quick but well-written work. Kreeft takes a look at three books of the Bible as underlining our problems in life as well as the solution. Ecclesiastes offers a glimpse at life without God, one of vanity, emptiness, and meaninglessness. Job delves into suffering and evil. Song of Songs provides the solution to these problems in the form of love. The work is crisp and well-organized, though it feels like it ends abruptly without perhaps a short concluding chapter. Not that Kreeft left anything unwritten for his purposes, just that is more the literary convention. Like he usually does, he can jolt the reader by reframing questions and problems in new and unfamiliar ways. He also has a knack for making even complicated things simpler and easy to understand. Definitely worth a read, especially as it's not breathtakingly long or especially difficult.
